Alma's ESL Corner is a new place for English Language
Learners (ELLs) and their teachers. Here you will find exciting links for little ones, resourceful links for both students
and teachers, as well as some of my personal work for my master's degree. Enjoy!
About me:
I currently work as a Bilingual/Bicultural Liaison in Essex Town School District (www.etsd.org) and Chittenden Central Supervisory Union (www.ejhs.k12.vt.us). My duties include: supporting Bosnian students in content area classes, serving as a liaison between the schools
and families concerning student academic and social performance, student homework, attendance, field trips, health concerns/needs,
etc. I also provide interpreting and translating services and tutor small groups of English Language Learners (ELLs).
During the summer vacation, I direct the ESL Summer Camp at Essex Junction Recreation and Parks (http://almic79.tripod.com/ESL_Camp_Newsletter.doc). I am also enrolled in the Master of Arts in Teaching English as a Second Language (MATESL) at Saint Michael's College
in Colchester, Vermont (www.smcvt.edu).
In my free time I enjoy reading Bosnian literature, spending time with my family and friends,
sitting on "my rock" by Lake Champlain (http://www.city-data.com/picfilesv/picv1875.php), traveling, collecting ESL materials, and playing tennis.
